This is a Partner race
This means that we are working with a host Partner Organisation and provide timing and/or race management services for their event.
Event Overview:
The parks and commons of Chislehurst have a rich history and the village is located in one of the leafiest wards of Greater London. Our aim is to combine the two to showcase that history and proffer fresh breath from the green lungs of Chislehurst to enrich runners' visit to the Chislehurst Half Marathon. The surplus from race entries will be donated to the Maypole Project.
Course Details:
The course takes you through some of the green spaces of beautiful Chislehurst where London meets the countryside. The route includes Scadbury Nature Reserve which was once the home of the Walsingham family. The course difficulty rating is 7/10, with 50% on undulating trails and 50% on pavement or paths, the event is considered to be of medium difficulty but within the ability of all reasonably fit runners.
For a good cause... The Maypole Project:
The Maypole Project provides unique psychological support to families affected by the life-shattering & stressful situation of a young family member being diagnosed or living with a complex illness or disability. They are a local charity, supporting over 1,000 families across Kent & South of London. The Maypole Project provides family centered emotional support, where a child/young person has been diagnosed with a complex medical need between 0 and 18yrs. Families can receive support from the moment of their child or young person’s diagnosis (or unnamed condition), including antenatal period. They support the whole family including siblings, the ill/disabled child/young person, parents, and grandparents. And, they promise to stay alongside families for as long as is needed, tailoring support to each family’s individual need at home, school, hospice or hospital.
HEROES Race Entry
If you select to register for the race on a HEROES ticket, then your entry will include a £5 donation to The Maypole Project.
A contribution such as this will pay for arts and crafts to be used in our children’s play boxes during their one to one play therapy sessions. It's the small things that can make the biggest difference.
