Join the Wadhurst Runners beside the water at beautiful Bewl for a local race that will delight with every step and help raise valuable funds for the KSS Air Ambulance Service!
This is a Partner race
This means that we are working with a host Partner Organisation and provide timing and/or race management services for their event.
Race Overview:
This event offers either a 15 mile race or 5 mile race option. It's one of the most beautiful races in the UK with a stunning race route around Bewl Water. We can't lie; it's a challenging trail route! But, the views are magnificent and the quiet country lanes must have been made for racing so you won't be disappointed. It's a corker of a race filled with community spirit and heart. Not only that, but you'll be racing to support the KSS Air Ambulance Service... more on them below!
There will be plenty to enjoy at the race village, including home made cakes and the local brass band will play to welcome all runners home.
Course Details:
The start/finish of the race is located a short walk down Blacksmiths Lane from the centre of Wadhurst. The race then takes you on a downhill section to Bewl Water and after covering a circuit you make your way back up the undulating lanes of Wadhurst back to the finish. There are two sets of speed bumps immediately after the start/finish that present a trip hazard so runners should keep this in mind.
Please note, new for 2025, the 15 mile route includes a four hour cut off time.
Kit and Course Conditions:
We highly recommend trail shoes for this event.
Given the joys of racing with the British weather in mind, we're never entirely sure if this race is going to take place as the mercury grazes a withering 30 degrees or if you'll be zipping along in a bit of downpour. If the days preceeding the race have been raining, then the course is likely to be anything from fairly muddy to extremely muddy making slipping a possibility. If the days preceeding the race have been balmy and warm, then the course is likely to be hard baked, adding to a potential trip hazard. As with any race, we ask that you race safely, keep an eye on the forecast and dress appropriately - and don't forget those trail shoes!

Running in aid of...
Bewl 15 & 5 supports the fantastic work of Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS).
We hope that you never need them, but every year thousands of people do. And if you do, they’ll be there to fight for your life. Their helicopters are flying emergency rooms. When there’s a life-or-death call, they bring specialised doctors, paramedics and treatment to the scene, fast. And they don’t stop. 24/7, 365 days a year. But without you, they can’t get off the ground. Your support gets their life-saving team to where they’re urgently needed.
Without you, they can’t keep flying. Without you, they can’t save lives.
When the call comes, they can reach any part of Kent, Surrey or Sussex in under 30 minutes. Their crews of pilots, doctors and paramedics responded to over 3,200 incidents last year. Every day they respond to nine emergency calls on average – giving people the best chance of survival and keeping families together.
But, this world leading, life saving care costs £16.6M a year or over £45K per day to operate with 87% of their total income raised through the incredible generosity of our supporters - just like you. Last year, your efforts through fundraising and racing at the Bewl 15 & 5 raised over £5000 for this amazing charity. What can we achieve in 2025?
