Pedal Power! Why the 2025 Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride is the Event You Don’t Want to Miss!

If you’ve been looking for a reason to dust off your bike, grab your helmet, and hit the road, we’ve got the perfect opportunity for you: the Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride is back on Sunday, 27th April 2025! This is more than just a bike ride - it’s a celebration of community, family fun, and a fantastic way to give back to local charities.

Whether you're a cycling pro or someone who hasn’t hopped on two wheels in years, this event has a route for everyone. Let’s take a closer look at why this year’s ride should absolutely be on your to-do list!

Explore the Scenic Beauty of Haywards Heath

Nestled in the heart of Mid Sussex, Haywards Heath offers a blend of rolling countryside and charming town life, making it the perfect backdrop for a day of cycling. With its picturesque lanes, quiet wooded areas, and stunning views across the South Downs, every pedal is a chance to soak up the beauty of the area.

And, let’s not forget - you’ll be riding in the spring sunshine (fingers crossed!). It’s the perfect time to enjoy the blooming landscapes and fresh country air.

Four Routes, Endless Fun! Choose Your Adventure!

If you're riding solo or bringing the whole family along, we’ve got a route that’s just right for you. Here’s what’s on offer:

1. SWEEPING VALLEYS (119km): This one’s for the hardcore cyclists out there. If you’re looking for a challenge, this Sportif-style route will push your limits!

2. THE HIGHWAYMAN (78km): A great option for experienced cyclists who want to get a solid ride in but still make it home for lunch!

3. THE CAVALIER (33km): This is the ideal route for families or those who want a fun, yet manageable, day of cycling.

4. THE SERGISON (20km): A leisurely ride perfect for beginners, families, and anyone who fancies a shorter, relaxing jaunt through the countryside.

With options for all ages and abilities, this is the ultimate family-friendly day out, whether you’re racing your mates or cruising with the kids. The best part? No matter the distance you choose, your entry fee goes directly to some amazing local causes.

Ride for a Cause: Support Our Local Charities

This year, the Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride is proud to support two incredible local charities: The KSS Air Ambulance and Time4Children. Not only will your participation guarantee you a great time, but every pound raised will go toward helping these organisations continue their vital work.

The KSS Air Ambulance

The Air Ambulance Charity for Kent, Surrey & Sussex is a world-leading charity at the forefront of Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS). They bring the emergency room to the scene and deliver life-saving, critical care. If the worst happens, and you feel like your world is coming to an end, they’ll be there. Last year alone they responded to over 3,200 incidents. They are fearless and tireless in fighting to save every life. When the call comes, they can reach any part of Kent, Surrey or Sussex in under 30 minutes. To them, care is critical.

Time4Children

Time 4 Children is a charity which aims to increase the emotional well-being, self-confidence and self-esteem of emotionally vulnerable children of primary school age in Mid Sussex and surrounding areas. With your help, they do this by providing weekly sessions where children can explore their worries, fears, anxieties or experiences with trained Volunteer Practitioners.

What to Expect on the Day: Fun, Food & Family Vibes

The Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride isn't just about pedalling - It's about celebrating the community and having a brilliant day out.  Spectators line the streets, cheering on the cyclists, while feed stations along the longer routes will keep you fuelled and ready to go.

So if you're cycling solo, bringing the family, or joining a team of friends, you'll find plenty of smiles, encouragement, and maybe even a few friendly faces along the way. And if you’re not the competitive type, don’t worry—there’s no race element here, just good vibes and great company.

Make sure you stick around after your ride to celebrate with everyone!  Marshals will be cheering you to the finish line, and the event wraps up by 2:30 PM with plenty of time to share your achievements (and maybe swap stories about that one hill that almost got you!).
