great event really enjoyed it thanks
Really enjoyed it thanks - Just felt people needed to be a bit more considerate to people running back through the finish line - maybe a better way of holding non runners and finishers from crossing in front of people still finishing the race - although I know this is difficult and the start and finish points were very tight.
Narrow and a little overcrowded.
The fact that the trail was open to the public with numerous bikes and dogs made it challenging to stay on the course and avoid injury.
Well worth experiencing.
Somewhat disappointed in the change in age categories, as there was no 5 year gap. As a V75, being grouped in the V70, I was unable to compare my time against other runners in that category. A few years different in the V70 group , at that age can make a substantial difference.
Friendly relaxed race.
Disappointed withe age categories. No 55-60 etc.
Fantastic event
Could have done with a sign for the Gents urinal facility, lots of fella’s unaware and queuing for the individual portaloo’s .
Beautiful Monsal Trail
A fabulous race, friendly, supportive and traffic free. The tunnels are a highlight!
Cyclists and walkers using the path at the same time also offered their support and encouragement.
Well organised, friendly event
This is a good course for people looking for a half marathon distance without lots of fuss. Being quite a small field lends well to being friendly and supportive. The simple out and back route helps tick off the miles. The odd wandering dog, child or less experienced cyclist helps you keep focus on the shared trail, but a friendly shout of ‘excuse me’ sorted it out.
Great event ..thank you marshalls
Runners made aware that they will be mixing with the public and some aren't very obliging to runners. Other than that it was a well organised event and hopefully I'll be back next year
Good experience
Drink station needed sooner for half marathon on the final few miles
Loved it, I would happy to run it again.
Beautiful route, well organised and great support from the race staff and supporters around the course, a lovely event
Good for speed training.
Lovely place to run. Well organised. Thank you.
Very friendly and welcoming. Great course well marked with distance markers.
Super
It was an amazing half marathon. Brilliant weather and friendly flat terrain to run. There were several water drinking points that I happily used. I can say one negative thing, the event t-shirt is oversized and it was not possible to change it to a smaller one. I will definitely be there for the next couriers in October. Thank you
Super event, lovely staff and runners!
Microphone at start could do with improving as couldn’t hear what was said. Otherwise, lovely atmosphere, location beautiful and great organization. Thank you to everyone!
Pretty route and beginner friendly
Couldn’t hear the briefing at the start. Route is nice and flat
Beautiful Scenery not the best organisation of the start and finish line
A fairly flat half marathon course with some stunning views throughout, great for a trip away if you incorporate running events into your travels
However, I felt the runners were done a disservice at the start line today. There was no warm up, nothing to get us motivated such as a warm up or some music as there had been with other events I've been to.
I was expecting the crowd to be grouped by expected pace, as a result I spent the first few kilometres trying to squeeze through gaps in the very tight crowd which impacted my time significantly.
The pedestrians on the route were generally encouraging but the crowd control at the finish line was extremely poor. I saw some people have to stop to let oncoming cyclists through just metres from the finish. Spectators and recent finishers were allowed to obstruct the finish line etc. At other events I've been to someone would be there to stop this happening.
Loved it! Well organised! Perfect day for a run!
My first event of this kind and thoroughly enjoyed it! My first medal since I was in junior school! :-)
Lovely route with amazing scenery, really enjoyed myself. Well organised, lots of info e-mailed out beforehand, and the stewards on the day were really helpful at directing everyone to where they needed to go. Would recommend this race to others.
I'd like to give a special thanks to the volunteers, they were really friendly and it was great that when I arrived there was actually someone on hand to direct me to the different areas (as usually you have to work it out yourself). Having smaller numbers racing was also good, as it avoided the route getting too congested when runners were going in both directions on the same stretch. I liked the way that both the half marathon and 10k were set off at the same time. I'd have been a bit annoyed if the 10k started first and I then had to work my way through lots of traffic on the narrow paths. I think there could have been more signage out on the course to warn the general public to watch out for runners, as there were a few occasions where I had to dodge round walkers and bikes but generally everyone was very good at letting runners through and cheering them on. I do think the prize for 1st place could be a bit more generous. Whilst I'm far more chuffed about the honour of coming first and getting a trophy than the value of any prize (esp given it's the first proper race I've ever won!), and I'm very grateful there is a prize rather than nothing, maybe in future consider giving a physical souvenir rather than a small e-voucher, such as a free race T-shirt for first, pair of socks for second, water bottle for third? Or even a free entry into another race? But on the whole, I had a great time and want to give a big thanks to all those involved in organising
Good route for a first time half marathon
