Bag Drop
You are welcome to leave your bag at the school hall. However, this is done at your own risk and discretion. The team will not handle or look after your bags and you will be responsible for labelling them clearly.
Facilities
Unfortunately, there are no changing facilities available at this site so we recommend arriving ready to run!
Parking
There is ample parking available but this will be located a good 10-minute walk from the school. The parking is off-road and on firm fields. Please drive carefully if you have a low-slung car and please follow the guidance of the parking officials.
Please do not park on the road through Stebbing. Parking on the main road impedes race traffic and runners, severely compromising the safety of runners who may still be finishing when you wish to leave the event. In the past, we have had some complaints from Stebbing residents who have been blocked in so please park considerately. Race marshals will ask you to move on if you attempt to park here and runners not complying with this request will be disqualified.
We request that you allow the majority of runners to finish before you exit the car parks. If you do need to leave whilst a significant number of runners are still finishing, then you may be asked to leave the car parks heading away from Stebbing High Street - this is for the safety and benefit of those still running.
Toilets
For this year's edition, we are planning to have both portable toilets and a number of school toilets available for use. The portaloos tend to get quite busy, so if the queue starts building up, please do remember that you can also use the school toilets.
Headphones
Only bone conducting headphones are permitted at this event.
The start & finish
The race begins in Stebbing High Street (near the War Memorial). The race finishes back at Stebbing Primary School.
About the course
The first mile is a loop around Stebbing, passing back through the High Street. The race then heads out on quiet lanes and on farm tracks behind the village of Stebbing.
Other route users
Please keep in mind that road closures are not in place and whilst we will have good signage and marshals to help with traffic along the course, we ask that you race with care and remain aware of your surroundings and the possibility of traffic. Please also look out for uneven or slippery surface and potholes!
Recommended Kit & Footwear
Your favourite running shoes should be fine for this race. Please keep an eye on the forecast and dress appropriately for the conditions, bringing a spare set of clothes (and socks!) if needed.
Litter
Please do NOT drop litter. Bins will be provided, so please dispose of any litter correctly or take it home with you.
Water Stations
There will be a water station provided at the finish together with two additional water stations on the route. Whilst we will ensure that our water stations are well supplied, runners should ensure that they are fully hydrated and we recommend that you carry your own water.
Going Green
To help reduce the carbon footprint of this race, we would like to encourage all our runners to bring their own camel packs or reusable cups for this race. Our teams at the water stations will be happy to fill any receptacle that you might bring with you so that you stay hydrated and racing fit! If you are able to car share, then this would be wonderful!
Your route & marshals...
Your course will be clearly marked using large route arrows and directional cones, as well as being marshalled throughout. Please listen and obey all marshal instructions given. There will be a sweep marshal which will follow the last runner to make sure that no one is left on the route. All marshals will remain in place until stood down by the sweep marshal.
Spectators
We always welcome anyone that would like to cheer on our runners and join the good spirit of the race by lending their encouragement and support.
Medals & Prizes
A commemorative medal inspired by Remembrance Sunday will be given to all finishers.
Trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd male and female
Trophies for 1st male & female in categories V40, V50, V60 & V70
Trophies for 1st male & female teams (3 runners to count)
£100 cash prize to be awarded to the winner of the race (male & female) if a new record has been set (current records... Male, 51:12 / Female, 58:01)
