Facilities
Unfortunately, there are no changing facilities available at this site so we recommend arriving ready to run!
Parking
Most car parking will be situated in the Town which is a few minute’s walk away from the Race Headquarters. There will be limited parking at the Race HQ but this will be primarily for those taking part in the 20 mile race and will be on a first come first served basis. If you park at the Race HQ then you will be unable to leave before 1.30pm. This is to ensure that cars leaving the event do not hamper runners who are still running their race.
Please note there will be extremely limited parking on Dennes Lane as this forms part of the course and often experiences severe congestion. If you are using Sat Nav, we would suggest ignoring any instructions to turn of the A259 at Old Romney to continue on through country lanes and instead continue on the A259 to the B2075, turning to Lydd which will bring you to the parking area for the race.
It is also vital that, if you are parking in the town, and are doing so at The Rype (the large grassed area used for football), you only park on the perimeter of the grassed area and not on the grassed area itself. Please listen to the parking marshals instructions as to where to park.
Toilets
Portable toilets will be available at the start and end of the race. Please use the toilet facilities in good time before the race start.
Please note, there will be no toilets available on the course.
Headphones
Only bone conducting headphones are permitted at this event.
The start & finish
Both distances start and finish in the same location. The start line is on Dennes Lane and the finish line is on cricket pitch behind the Banks Sports & Social Club. The start line is a short walk from the Race HQ.
About the course
The routes are all on tarmac and follows a flat and scenic course around Lydd and Romney. The 20 mile course is an out and back, including a single loop on the outward leg. The half marathon is an out and back course. Both distances hold certificates of course accuracy.
An important note regarding traffic
Please be aware that the route will not be closed to other users. Some sections of the course will remain open to traffic and you should be ready for this. Please keep this in mind whilst you run, ensuring that you race with care and remain aware of your surroundings at all times.
Recommended Kit & Footwear
We would recommend road shoes for this race, if you have them. Being a March race, it is likely to be quite cold and wet. It could also be fairly slippery underfoot. Please keep an eye on the forecast and dress appropriately for the conditions, bringing a spare set of clothes (and socks!) if needed.
Litter
Please do NOT drop litter. Bins will be provided, so please dispose of any litter correctly or take it home with you.
Water Stations
For the 20 mile there will be three drinks stations which you will pass twice at approximately 3 and 17 miles, 5.5 and 14.5 miles, 9 and 11 miles.
For the half marathon runners will have water at 3 miles, 5.5 miles, 7.5miles and 10miles.
Please note, if you have used a specific brand of energy gel or supplement in your training, then we would recommend that you do not change your routine and bring these with you.
Water will also be available at the finish for all runners. Whilst we will ensure that our water stations are well supplied, runners should ensure that they are fully hydrated and also consider carrying their own water.
Going Green
To help reduce the carbon footprint of this race, we would like to encourage all our runners to bring their own camel packs or reusable cups for this race. Our teams at the water stations will be happy to fill any receptacle that you might bring with you so that you stay hydrated and racing fit! If you are able to car share, then this would be wonderful!
Your route & marshals...
Your course will be clearly marked using large route arrows and directional cones, as well as being marshalled throughout. Please listen and obey all marshal instructions given. There will be a sweep marshal which will follow the last runner to make sure that no one is left on the route. All marshals will remain in place until stood down by the sweep marshal.
Spectators
We always welcome anyone that would like to cheer on our runners and join the good spirit of the race by lending their encouragement and support. Spectators will find great vantage points from which to watch the race within the finish area. Please be aware that there are limited pavements on the course so it would be better to watch within the finish area, Old Romney or Brookland for the 20 mile.
Medals & Prizes
There will be a bespoke medal awarded to all finishers and prizes as stated on the website. Weather permitting, the presentation will take place approximately 45 - 60 minutes after the first runner has crossed the finish line and when all the prize winners have arrived home.
Please listen for announcements from your Race Director.

Live and provisional results will be available on the Nice Work website asap after the race. If you have any questions regarding the live results, please ensure that you have emailed this through to us by midday on the following Thursday.
