Facilities
Unfortunately, there are no changing facilities available at this site so we recommend arriving ready to run!
Parking
There is strictly NO parking at the school or it's driveway. Please park on the local roads and adhere to any current parking restrictions that may be in place.
Please respect local residents and do not park across gateways or entrances. We would advise leaving plenty of time to find a place to park.
There is a small amount of parking at the Oundle Library and Town Council building and one further away at The Drill Hall but be prepared to walk 10-30 minutes. Alternatively, you can park along the road but if this is on the route then along Glapthorn Road would be best. Cotterstock Road, past the start line, needs to be kept clear of cars.
Toilets
Portable toilets will be available at Race HQ. Please note, there will be no toilets available on the course.
Headphones
Only bone conducting headphones are permitted at this event.
The start & finish
All distances start and finish in the same location. The start line is on Cotterstock Road and the finish line is on the school field. The start line is a short walk from the Race HQ.
About the course
The routes are all on tarmac and follows scenic courses around the pretty Northamptonshire countryside. The lanes are wide and quiet. Please note, there are only partial road closures so only bone conducting headphones are allowed.
The 20 mile route is a single loop taking in the villages of Cotterstock, Fotheringhay, Nassington, Yarwell, Wansford, King's Cliffe, Apethorpe, Woodnewton and Glapthorn. Cotterstock Road will be closed for the start of the race and King's Cliffe Road will be closed. All other roads are open so please be cautious of other road users.
10k runners complete two laps of the 5k course, while the 5k complete one. Two thirds of the course is closed to traffic but Glapthorn Road is open so please be cautions of other road users and remain in single file.
Recommended Kit & Footwear
We would recommend your favourite running/road shoes for this race. Please keep an eye on the forecast and dress appropriately for the conditions, bringing a spare set of clothes (and socks!) if needed.
Litter
Please do NOT drop litter. Bins will be provided, so please dispose of any litter correctly or take it home with you.
Water Stations
For the runners of the 20 mile, there will be a total of six water/aid stations on the course. In addition to water, some of the stations will also have sugary drinks and snacks. If you have used a specific brand of energy gel/supplement in your training then we advise that you do not change this for the race and bring some with you.
For runners of the 10k, there will be a water station just passed the entrance to the school. All distances will benefit from a water station on the finish line.
Whilst we will ensure that our water stations are well supplied, runners should ensure they are fully hydrated and also consider carrying their own water.
Going Green
To help reduce the carbon footprint of this race, we would like to encourage all our runners to bring their own camel packs or reusable cups for this race. Our teams at the water stations will be happy to fill any receptacle that you might bring with you so that you stay hydrated and racing fit! If you are able to car share, then this would be wonderful!
Your route & marshals...
Your course will be clearly marked using large route arrows and directional cones, as well as being marshalled throughout. Please listen and obey all marshal instructions given. There will be a sweep marshal which will follow the last runner to make sure that no one is left on the route. All marshals will remain in place until stood down by the sweep marshal.
Spectators
We always welcome anyone that would like to cheer on our runners and join the good spirit of the race by lending their encouragement and support. Spectators will find great vantage points from which to watch the race along the route and within the finish area but please be aware that there are limited pavements on the course so it would be better to watch within Oundle itself or in any of the villages along the 20 mile route.
Medals & Prizes
There will be a bespoke medal awarded to all finishers and prizes as stated on the website. Weather permitting, the presentation will take place approximately 45 - 60 minutes after the first runner has crossed the finish line and when all the prize winners have arrived home.
Please listen for announcements from your Race Director.
